Guadalupe, Mexico and Riviera Maya Pilgrimage tour - GMP18
On our Christian pilgrimage tours we not only combine the best elements of an organised tour, visiting the major places of interest at your destination in the company of other Christian pilgrims, but it is also a journey of discovery.
While you will have the opportunity to walk in the footsteps of the saints, early Christians and pilgrims, visiting magnificent churches and places of miracles or other religious significance, you will also visit the major places of general touring interest.
On tour you have the chance to meet new people and have the space to relax and reflect. The tour pace caters for all levels of fitness and involvement – you can do as much, or as little - as you wish.

Guadalupe, Mexico and Riviera Maya Pilgrimage tour
Day 1: Guadalupe
After breakfast, we travel by way of the Plaza of the Three Cultures, and make our way to the Shrine of Our Lady of Guadalupe. Along the way, you will be enchanted by the blending of pre-Hispanic and Hispanic cultures. We arrive at the Shrine of Our Lady of Guadalupe, the patroness of the Americas. After celebrating Mass, we have time to take in the brilliantly coloured, modern Basilica dedicated in 1976. Join with other pilgrims, as you kneel before the altar displaying the astounding “Tilma”, the sackcloth bearing the image of the Holy Virgin. Continue to San Juan Teotihuacan, a UNESCO World Heritage site, before lunch nearby. This afternoon, we have a guided tour of the Archaeological zone, visiting the Pyramids of the Sun and the Moon, Temple of Quetzalcoatl, and local arts and crafts markets. Return to your Hotel in time for dinner and overnight.
Day 2: Mexico City
Mass at the Holy Family Church, then visit and pray at the tomb of Fr. Miguel Agustin Pro, S.J. the Jesuit martyr. Then visit the Metropolitan Cathedral and tour of the Cathedral and see the Tomb of Bishop Zumarraga. Drive to Historic Mexico City, visit the Zocalo and the National Palace. Continue on to the Plaza of Santo Domingo, the 1st church built by the Dominicans in 1576. Within the Plaza is the first rosary shrine in Mexico, Our Lady of the Rosary; and a 2nd shrine, Our Lady of Covadonga (base for the Confraternity of the Most Holy Rosary, founded in 1538). Dinner and overnight.
Day 3: Excursion to Tlaxcala & Puebla
Following breakfast, we will leave Mexico City for a spectacular ride with a view of the two most famous peaks, one covered with eternal snow, and next to it is the one with volcano. Our first stop is Tlaxcala, the Shrine of San Miguel Del Milagro. Upon arrival, our priest will celebrate Holy Mass at the site where St. Michael the Archangel appeared to Diego Lazaro in 1631. It was there that St. Michael directed him to the Grotto and to a well of miraculous curative waters (bring an empty small bottle to collect some miraculous water). After lunch we proceed to Puebla to see St. Dominic's Church and the magnificent Chapel of Our Lady of the Rosary, with it's most famous scalloped gold leaf walls and ceilings. Then visit the Church of St. Francis of Assisi to see the incorrupt body of St. Sebastian de Aparicio. This evening we will return to our hotel late (approx 9PM).
Day 4: Shrine of Our Lady of Guadalupe and Coyoacan
After breakfast, we will return to the Shrine of Our Lady of Guadalupe to attend Mass and to bid farewell to Mary the Mother of God. Enjoy free time for prayer and reflection at the shrine.
