Greece travel packages are the best way of discovering the birthplace of modern civilization. This 7 day Greece tour includes the services of an English-speaking guide, fabulous 2 or 3-star accommodation, breakfast and three evening meals.
Arriving in Athens, you will travel by air-conditioned bus to Mycenae and pass through Lion Gate, the main entrance to the Bronze Age citadel, before reaching the tomb of Agamemnon, the ancient King of Mycenae who was murdered by his wife Clytemnestra after he returned victorious from the Battle of Troy.
The following day begins with a picturesque journey through the mountains of central Peloponnese to the verdant city of Olympia, home of the ancient Olympics. From there you will visit the sanctuary of Apollo in Delphi. The god Apollo took the form of a dolphin, which is Greek for Delphi.
Returning to Athens, nothing can prepare the uninitiated for the grandeur of the Acropolis and the Parthenon The Acropolis museum is an ultra modern building with a terrific restaurant, laid out to attract non-history buffs and academics alike. Afterwards, wander through the nearby area of Plaka and be amazed by the artefacts that pop up inside shops and underground stations.

After our breakfast, we depart for the three day classical tour of mainland Greece. Our first stop will be to admire the Corinth Canal. We continue to Epidaurus, the most important healing center in antiquity, and famous for its theater, the best preserved in Greece, with is incomparable acoustics. Our day continues to picturesque Nafplion, dominated by Palamidi castle. We will have some free time to explore the picturesque narrow streets with the neoclassical buildings, and walk on the sea-front promenade with the amazing views to the fortified Bourtzi islet that guards the entrance of the port of Nafplion. Our day continues with a visit to Mycenae, visiting the tomb of Agamemnon and the famous Lions. This afternoon, we will be crossing the mountains of central Peloponnese to arrive in Olympia for the night.
Today, we will be exploring the beautiful site of Olympia. Built on the banks of the River Alfios, Olympia is beautiful, green, and placid; it was the home of the original Olympic Games, begun in 776 BC. We will enjoy a tour through the remains of the Ancient Olympia Complex, including the Temple of Zeus, the Palaestra, and Phidias’ Workshop. Later, we will be visiting the Olympia Archaeological Museum, one of the richest museums in Greece. In the afternoon, we will depart northwards, via Patras, and over the impressive and longest hanging bridge of Rio-Antirio, via Nafpaktos and Itea to Delphi for the night.
After our breakfast, we will be visiting Delphi. In antiquity, Delphi was considered the “omphalos” (navel) of the earth, and the place where people from around the world would visit in order to receive an “oracle” from “Pythia”. We will admire the Sanctuary of Apollo, the Treasury of the Athenians and also visit the museum of Delphi. Later, we will continue our drive and crossing the mountains of central Greece. We will arrive in Kalambaka for dinner and overnight.
This morning, we will be visiting Meteora. Amazing rock formations, like towers of sandstone, stand ageless, and have provided sacred retreat for monks over the centuries. A number of monasteries are hidden on top of Meteora. The view over the plain is breath-taking, and Meteora is considered among the most beautiful areas of mainland Greece, belonging to UNESCO’s list of world heritage monuments. After our visit, we will be taking the road back to Athens, stopping at Thermopylae to admire the statue of Leonidas, king of Sparta. We will overnight in Athens.
After our breakfast, we will take a city tour of Athens. We will see the Academy, the National library, the Greek parliament and the tomb of Unknown Soldier guarded by the Evzones, the Panathinaikon marble stadium where the first modern Olympics took place, Hadrian’s Arch, the temple of Olympian Zeus, and other monuments and landmarks of the city. Our panoramic tour will end at the sacred rock of Acropolis. We will visit the Propylae, the Erechtheion, the temple of Athena Nike and the Parthenon. We continue to the nearby museum of Acropolis, considered one of the best museums in Europe. Our day continues with some free time to explore the picturesque Plaka, the old part of the city, with its beautiful narrow streets, the neo-classical building and numerous shops and tavernas. We will then spend the rest of the day at leisure, staying overnight in Athens.
Our tour concludes today after breakfast, and there is the option of an airport transfer. We hope you've enjoyed your tour of Greece!
