On our Egypt in style tour takes you to Cairo, Alexandria, Luxor, Aswan & Abu Simbel. You will visit amazing temples, Catacombs, Pyramids, Alexandria's Great Library, a relaxing felucca ride on the Nile plus much more.
11 DAY ITINERARY
Tour commences and concludes Cairo.DAY 1 Saturday: CAIRO, EGYPTOn arrival you will be met and transferred to your hotel. This is where your service begins. There’s free time to freshen up and relax. Welcome dinner (included) and the chance to meet other travellers tonight. DDAY 2 Sunday: MUSEUM AND OLD CAIROAlong with your international style breakfast try some traditional “ful medames” this morning. Today you’ll get a chance to check out Old Cairo. Our guide will help you to assist us as you visit the beautiful Muhammed Ali mosque, as well as the breath- taking “Hanging” Church of the Virgin Mary. After lunch, we’ll head to the famous Egyptian Museum. You’ll have a chance to view major historical pieces discovered literally thousands of years ago, dating back to 3000BC - there are approximately 1,200 items in the Museum, including the amazing Golden Mask of Tutankhamun. BDAY 3 Monday: PYRAMIDSWe’re going to visit the pyramids today - one of the seven wonders of the ancient world. Beginning with the ancient necropolis, Saqqara, we’ll visit one of the oldest stone structures in the world: the Step Pyramid. You’ll get to learn that the secrets of this desert world have been forgotten over the years, buried in the desert sands. From here you’ll have a bit of free time for lunch before arriving at The Great Pyramids to witness the beautiful architecture and appreciate the work that really went into making these marvels. You’ll also have a chance to get up close to the Sphinx. Our guide explains the history and cultural significance of the things you’re seeing - you’ll get a true taste of what it was like in Ancient Egypt. BDAY 4 Tuesday: ALEXANDRIAToday we’re going to be travelling from Cairo to Alexandria - it’s a beautiful city. Upon arrival, we start exploring Alexandria with Pompey’s Pillar – this is the biggest memorial column in Egypt, which was constructed in honour of Emperor Diocletian. You’ll also have a chance to explore the Catacombs, discovered in the 1900s when a cart fell into a pit. Continue to the well-preserved Roman-Graeco Theatre where decades of excavation efforts have led to the discovery of evidence of Roman lifestyle and culture, with marble seats for up to 800 spectators, galleries, and sections of mosaic-flooring. Take in the grandeur of what it was like to live as a Roman in a world ruled by Rome. Tonight you can check out the Alexandria night life, do some shopping, walk the Mediterranean shore or even check out the local trams. BDAY 5 Wednesday: ALEXANDRIA, LUXORAlexandria is a beautiful city situated right on the Mediterranean Sea. After a calorie packed breakfast, you’ll stop at Alexandria’s Great Library, a newly completed structure built after the old Alexandria fires. This afternoon we head back to the Cairo Railway station, we’ll take care of all your luggage and check it all in for you. Get comfy for a scenic overnight rail journey to Luxor. B.DDAY 6 Thursday: LUXORThis morning we visit amazing temples: the Temple of Complex Karnak (Egypt’s largest.), and the Luxor Temple, known as the Southern Shrine. Archaeologists have established that many of the Kings of Egypt were crowned here. Check into our 5-star Nile cruiser - it will be your home for the next four nights. L.DDAY 7 Friday: LUXORThis morning we check out of our hotel and begin our day by a visit to the west bank in Luxor. You’ll visit the famous Valley of the Kings and Queens - you’ll see the tomb of Tutankhamen, followed by a visit to the remarkable Temple of Queen Hatshepsut. You’ll also see the Colossi of Memnon - breathtaking stone statues which guarded the gates of the ancient Egyptian city of Thebes. Tonight enjoy a welcome drink and relax before dinner. Sail to Edfu, Overnight on board at Edfu. B.L.DDAY 8 Saturday: EDFU, KOM OMBO, ASWANThis morning we make a stop at the Edfu Temple to marvel at Egypt’s best-preserved temple, the Temple of Horus, with its ancient hieroglyphs and original ceilings. Have lunch back on the cruise and have some free time either to catch up on sleep or bathe on the sundeck. This afternoon we check out Kom Ombo Temple, the double temple of Egypt. Overnight on board at Aswan. B.L.DDAY 9 Sunday: ASWANToday we discover the breathtaking city of Aswan. Aswan is a beautiful city - you’ll see the gorgeous greenery matched against the calm of the Nile River, which flows right through the city. Visit the Aswan high dam, which is considered an engineering marvel. You’ll also have a chance to see the Philae Temple, which is dedicated to the Goddess Isis. This afternoon enjoy a relaxing felucca ride on the Nile, a traditional wooden sailing boat to visit Botanical Gardens. Overnight in Aswan. B.L.DDAY 10 Monday: ASWAN, ABU SIMBEL/CAIROAfter breakfast we disembark our cruiser and this afternoon you’ll transfer to Aswan airport to fly to Abu Simbel (optional extension) or head back to Cairo. BOPTIONAL EXTENSION - ABU SIMBELIf on the optional extension - this morning explore Abu Simbel temple relocated to stay dry above the man made Aswan High Dam waters. BDAY 11 Tuesday: CAIROToday you’ll transfer to Cairo Airport to connect for group onward travel. B
