Channel Islands Tour- LCC
Number of Days: 7
Set just off the coast of France, the picturesque islands of Jersey, Guernsey, Sark, Herm and Alderney make up the Channel Islands. These islands are known for their “olde-worlde” charm and offer a fascinating mix of traditional Britishness with a flavour of France! Take in the history, glorious coastlines and quaint towns on this tour.
DAY 1- We travel from London to Guernsey by air or sea, where a coach and local guide are waiting to take us to our hotel. In the evening we enjoy drinks and a welcome dinner at our hotel.
DAY 2- After a leisurely start we enjoy a day of sightseeing with a local guide who will point out all the places of interest on the island and tell us about local government, customs and the island way of life. Afternoon tea is served during the tour.
DAY 3- Today we travel to Sark, the smallest of the four main Channel Islands. It has a well-earned reputation for its unique history, “olde-worlde” charm and tranquil atmosphere. As there are no motor vehicles on the island except for tractors, you will explore everything that Sark has to offer by horse and carriage. In addition to the various quaint shops and cafes to be found in the island’s main village, you will discover beautiful scenery with an abundance of wildflowers and sea birds, as well as the island’s 40 miles of stunning coastline and dramatic cliffs, concealing picturesque inlets and secluded bays. We will visit La Seigneurie Gardens, some of the finest formal gardens in the Channel Islands.
DAY 4- After breakfast the day will commence with a stroll through Candie Gardens, the award-winning, restored Victorian gardens with splendid views across St Peter Port Harbour. We will then enjoy a guided walking tour of St Peter Port, which is widely considered to be the Channel Islands’ most beautiful town. In the afternoon, we will travel to Jersey and be transferred to our hotel.
DAY 5- Today we enjoy a leisurely day in St Helier, taking in all the sights with local guide. Today’s tour is designed to acquaint you with the best scenery and attractions that Jersey has to offer, including the picturesque harbour village of St Aubin, which was once the commercial centre of island life, the breathtaking St Brelade’s Bay, which is arguably the island’s most beautiful bay, and Corbière, whose rugged scenery and iconic white lighthouse have made it one of the most photographed spots on the Island. Cream tea is taken during the tour.
DAY 6- Today we will enjoy a day trip to France, visiting the ancient walled city of St Malo and exploring the history of this stretch of the Brittany coast. It should be noted that some non-EU nationals require a Schengen area visa and the option remains to linger longer in Jersey. In the evening we return to Jersey where a farewell dinner is served.
DAY 7- The morning is at leisure in Jersey where there is time to go duty free shopping in St Helier or walk in some of the magnificent Jersey countryside before we either fly back to London or leave the island by sea for Poole Harbour and from there board the train to London.
